BRING AN AUTHOR TO YOUR SCHOOL!
There's something special about meeting the person behind the books. My author visits are designed to inspire students, encourage a love of reading, and give young writers a behind-the-scenes look at how an idea becomes a published book.
As a retired elementary teacher and children's author, I enjoy creating engaging presentations tailored to your students' age and curriculum. Whether we're exploring friendship, history, science, math, or the writing process, my goal is simple:
To help every child discover that they have a story worth telling.
What Students Will Experience
During each visit, students will:
- Learn how an idea becomes a published book
- Discover the writing, editing, and illustration process
- Make meaningful connections between reading and classroom subjects
- Participate in an interactive question-and-answer session
- Be encouraged to read, write, imagine, and dream
Presentations can be adapted for grades K–5, library programs, literacy events, Read Across America celebrations, STEM/STEAM enrichment, and family reading nights.
Booking Information
Local School Visits
School visits within a 50-mile radius of Southeast Tennessee are available for a $50 presentation fee.
Schools outside this area are welcome and encouraged to inquire. Travel arrangements and fees will be discussed during the booking process.
Preparing for Your Visit
To help make the day successful, I ask that schools:
- Schedule visits at least four weeks in advance whenever possible.
- Print and send home the provided book order forms at least four weeks before the visit, so families have time to place orders.
- Collect and return preorder forms two weeks before the visit. Email me the number of each book needed. Collect payments sent. Some parents may choose to order from my website.
- Provide a table or small workspace for materials.
Autographed Books
Books will be personally autographed either before or during my visit, making each one a special keepsake for students and families.
- Arrange for audiovisual equipment if needed (projector or screen, if applicable).
